Our YMCA is happy to announce Spring Training Camp.  We appreciate your patience as we navigate this unknown world we are living in.  We have created an opportunity to provide all daycare for your elementary age child(ren) ages 5-12.  As per the communication we have received from local and state officials, licensed programs are approved to operate within our existing guidelines in order to assist working families.

Please see below the steps we will be taking to make sure that this is a safe place for your children.

Social Distancing:
We will be setting up activity groups of no more than 15 children with two staff per group.  We can accommodate 4 groups at this time (60 children) They will have designated classroom space.  We will be doing most of our activities in these spaces with scheduled times either outdoors or in the gym.

Each child/parent will be screened upon checking in at the front door.   The screening will include how the child is feeling, having their temperature taken and asking about family travel over the past few weeks utilizing the State of Kansas most up to date travel restrictions.  Please remember that if your child is sick, we are unable to welcome them into the program.  If members of your household are in quarantine and your child has had contact with them even before symptoms started, they may not be allowed to attend.

We are planning on helping your child through this educational gap.  Activities will include reading, math, and science in an effort to help keep them educationally engaged while you work.  We will be finding creative ways to help your child learn while still having fun.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack will be provided.

Please understand this our camp availability is subject to change if the regulations for licensed childcare centers change at any point.  As you know, recommendations are changing on a daily (if not more recent).   Our staff are working very hard this week to do deep cleaning and sanitizing to help provide a clean environment.

More information on the Kansas Department of Health and Environment’s recommendations and updates for childcare, please visit their website at kdheks.gov and click on the COVID-19 Resource Center graphic.  Scroll down the page and click on the childcare tab.

3/19/2020 UPDATE

At the Salina Family YMCA, the safety and well-being of our members, staff, volunteers and the broader Salina community have always been and will always be a top priority.

We have been diligently monitoring all national and local updates surrounding the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation. In order to best ensure the health of our entire Y community, we have decided to keep our facility closed two more weeks (through April 5th).

We understand this is a very concerning situation. The Salina Y has been a pillar of the Salina community for more than 138 years, throughout both good and challenging times. The decision to close our facility was made to best ensure the safety of everyone in our community. We will continue to monitor this evolving situation and will work with local officials to determine what future actions will be necessary (or an opportunity to open early arises.)

In addition:

  • EEC (Early Education Center) will continue to remain open for enrolled participants.
  • Spring Training Camp will start on March 23rd for children ages 6-12.  For details on enrollment, programming and more, visit our website at http://www.salinaymca.org.
  • Youth Sports Spring season is canceled.
  • Check out the new programs and classes from wellness and sports being shared on our Facebook and archived on our YouTube channel to use again.
  • For additional group exercise/wellness videos, check out the free Y360 program.  The link is available on our website and Facebook pages.

This temporary closure, as well as the cancellation of various services in and around our community, will have very real financial consequences for organizations like the Y that rely heavily on the support of members, program participants, and donors. As a nonprofit, charitable organization, we ask for your patience and your continued Y membership and program enrollment to help support us during this time.  If you are able and willing to gift that to the Y, it would be greatly appreciated.  If you would like to talk with someone regarding a partial or full refund please complete the following webform at https://www.salinaymca.org/form/contact-us or email info@salinaymca.org.  One of our team members will follow up with you.
This past week while the facility was closed, our staff have been working hard on deep cleaning, organizing, and painting.  We are excited for you to see all the updates when you return!
For the latest information about our facility and the impact to all Y programs, please visit our website, download our App for notifications or check out our social media pages.

Thank you for being part of the Y and for all you are doing to support the greater good as we all face this unprecedented health challenge.
