Meet Maggie, our Staff Spotlight of June!
Maggie Spicer Brown grew up in the Salina area, and was very active in the performing arts, particularly with Salina Community Theatre, and graduated from Salina South High School. Maggie went on to receive her Bachelor's of Music from Oklahoma City University before moving to New York City, where she lived on and off for the better part of 7 years. During that time Maggie worked as a professional actor with favorite credits including Mamma Mia and Matilda at Casa Manana in Texas, Freaky Friday and A Little Night Music at Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma and the North American tour of The Wizard of Oz.
Maggie has been dancing since the age of 3 and teaching dance since high school, but started really getting into fitness training after college. Wanting to expand her knowledge and skill set, she became a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Becoming a CPT gave her the tools to become a better dance/fitness teacher.
In addition to CPT, Maggie went through the VXN Workout Instructor Certification to be able to bring the VXN Workout to Salina. VXN is a dance fitness brand focused on improving the physical and mental wellness of women, using trending choreography and musical remixes to create a live stage experience in a comfortable setting. She is also certified in Progressing Ballet Technique, a program designed to help students advance in all dance forms by training muscle memory, focusing on core stability, weight placement and alignment.
Thanks Maggie for being a part of our Y family!
