Salina Corporate cup challenge
registration march 12 - May 2
games begin June 2
ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
The idea for the Salina Corporate Cup Challenge came from the Kansas City Corporate Challenge. In 1980, the United States boycotted the Olympics in Moscow, Russia. The KCCC was started as a replacement of sorts for these Olympics. It started off with only a few participants and lasted for a month. Today, the KCCC lasts for nine weeks and has over 220 company participants. Each year there are around 30,000 people that participate and volunteer in the events! Salina area businesses that sign up for the SCCC will participate in a variety of games and events. How they perform in those games and events will count towards a final score. At the end of the games, the business with the most points wins. Smaller offices are encouraged to team up with other offices of their choosing in order to be able to fill the number demands of team sports. This will help build quality relationships not only in your office, but with other offices as well!
The Salina Corporate Cup Challenge is designed to promote health, wellness, and camaraderie within your business and the community of Salina. We want to promote healthy activity while at the same time, encourage businesses to bond with each other and other businesses in Salina. The Salina Corporate Cup Challenge is an excellent way to promote your business and network in the community. It will help increase your profile in Salina and will provide your company with many networking opportunities. We look forward to your participation!Volunteer and Growth.
Each business that signs up for the games is encouraged to help with the events. Points are awarded for each volunteer. Volunteering in the events is also a great way to get involved if you are not athletically inclined. Volunteering promotes a good sense of community while helping promote the spirit of the games. We could not do it without volunteers!
WHY DO IT?
- Public Health: Promote health and wellness within your company. Team and individual competitions allow for maximal employee participation.
- Company Comradery: Unite your employees with a common goal competing against other businesses. Design t-shirts to encourage a fun team spirit!
- Community Service: Volunteers are needed at each event! Earn more points for your company by having volunteers help with the games!
- Compete for Charity: $100 of every entry fee goes to the charity pot. 50% of the pot goes to charities assigned at the Salina Family YMCA, the other 50% goes to the winning company’s charity of choice!
One of the benefits of participating in the Salina Corporate Cup Challenge is your employees and coworkers can choose what event(s) they want to commit to. Participants can compete in as many or few events as possible. All big team events “with the exception of basketball (2 days),” will be held over a one day time period to prevent long term commitments.
The are eight events that companies will compete in. Points will be awarded to companies after each event based on how well your company participates and performs. The company with the most points at the end of the last event will be the Salina corporate cup champion.
