Health & Wellness Center Rules

 

SAFETY IS OUR PRIORITY
  • All participants MUST wear appropriate shoes while in the Health & Wellness Center area
  • No child under the age of 10 is allowed on the area where equipment is. They must remain on the track

 

YOUTH FITNESS TRAINING PROGRAM
WHO WE SERVE

Youth Fitness Training is a program for 10-13 year olds who are interested in keeping their bodies strong and healthy. The class will provide instruction on proper technique for using cardiovascular and strength machines (excludes any free weights). This program will incorporate character development, weight room etiquette, and basic nutrition. There is a minimal fee for this class. Youth ages 10-13 must complete this course in order to use the Wellness Center equipment. In order for a youth to use free weights they must complete the Free Weight Orientation offered after completion of the YFT. This orientation is at no cost.

CURRICULUM

The 2 hour class session will consist of:

  • 15-20 minutes session in the class room
  • 1 hour 15 minutes session on the Wellness Center floor
  • Up to a 30 minutes workout session if time allows
  • Wellness Center Guidelines and Etiquette
  • Brief Nutrition, Cardio, and Equipment Overview
  • Body Weight Exercises
  • Recommended Guidelines for Strength Training
  • Oral & Written Exam
THINGS TO KNOW

Youth members who have taken previous orientation(s) prior to August 2017, will be grandfathered in until they increase in age and want to utilize different equipment. 

  • Youth 10-13 are ONLY permitted to use the track, pools, basketball and racquetball courts until they complete the YFT.
  • Wear comfortable athletic clothing and bring a water bottle.
FREE WEIGHT ORIENTATION

Ages 10-13 can setup a 1 hour appointment with a trainer after completion of the Youth Fitness Training.

  • The free weight orientation can be requested at anytime after passing the YFT. Parent attendance is required during this training session.
  • Youth 10-12 MUST have a parent with them while lifting free weights, after free weight orientation.

The second Saturday of every month come and learn how to properly use the Wellness Center equipment, class is required for use in the Wellness Center. Cost $25 member $50 non- member. If you have a family membership this training is 1/2 OFF!

 

PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal and group training are a member service. Outside trainers are not allowed in YMCA facilities. If a NO Show should happen, the member will still pay for the appointment. A 24 hour notice is required.

 

ATTIRE

The YMCA is a family-friendly facility; please dress appropriately. Athletic shoes must be worn on wood floors. Proper swimsuits must be worn in pool areas. Open-toed shoes are prohibited in the Health and Wellness Center.

 

FACILITY MAINTENANCE CLOSINGS

Major maintenance in our facilities requires that we close certain areas for extended periods of time, during which time members may continue to use other areas of the facility.

 

FOOD AND DRINK POLICY

No food or beverages are allowed past the Membership Desk, with the exception of water. Any persons bringing food or drinks past the Welcome Center will be asked to throw them away or put them back in their vehicle. This does include all Youth Sports activities.
