All people are welcome at the YMCA. Due to a sliding fee scale based on family size and household, YMCA programs are affordable for the whole community. Within our financial capabilities, no person is refused program or membership privileges because of inability to pay. The YMCA is a nonprofit association offering opportunities for personal growth and service to others. To support our assisted members, we ask people to complete a confidential application form.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR YMCA FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?
An active older adult on a fixed income, a single parent who is trying to make ends meet, a family in transition, someone who needs a little help for a while - all of these are the faces of the YMCA Financial Assistance Program.
HOW IS THE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AMOUNT DETERMINED?
We offer a sliding fee scale based on the annual gross household income and the number of dependents whether applying for single or family membership.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO JOIN THE YMCA FOR FREE?
The YMCA believes a strong sense of ownership and pride is developed if the assistance recipient has contributed to the cost of their YMCA involvement. Therefore, applicants will be asked to pay a portion of the fee.
HOW SOON IS THE AMOUNT DETERMINED?
Complete applications will be reviewed within 10 working days. Please submit your application along with proof of income.
WILL I BE TREATED DIFFERENTLY? WILL OTHER MEMBERS KNOW THAT I AM ON FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE?
Only you and the membership secretary will have access to your application. We track assistance data, but only in terms of numbers and statistics, not by names.
CAN I DO ANYTHING IN RETURN FOR THIS ASSISTANCE?
Yes, you can! The YMCA is a volunteer-based organization. Visit with any Director for more information.
IS ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR ALL PROGRAMS?
Assistance is available for memberships, most programs, and child care.
Please contact the Member Services Desk or Membership Secretary for details on a specific program.
