Coaches Bios


BEV JONES - has been employed by the Salina Family YMCA since 2001. She is the head coach of the Salina YMCA GemStars competition and pre-competition teams. Bev has 22 years experience coaching gymnastics and is a pro-member and safety certified with AAU and USA gymnastics. Her background in gymnastics has taken her many places and provided many memorable rewards as a coach. Bev has had the privilige to train state and national champions. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education and Health and a minor in Dance. Bev and husband, Bill, have 2 grown children, Jason and Lacey.

YVONNE LIBY - has been employed by the Salina Family YMCA since 1988. Yvonne has 3 children, Shayla, Nathan, and Kylie. She has worked in many areas in her years at the YMCA. Currently she is the pre-school and recreational Gymnastics Coordinator and coaches Level 1 of team gymnastics. She also oversees scheduling all birthday parties at the Salina Family YMCA.

LACEY JONES - graduated from Salina Central High School in 2008 and went to Bethany College on a cheerleading scholarship. She was a part of the KCAC Championship Cheer squad and received best tumbler in the KCAC conference in 2012. Lacey is now studying nursing at Brown Mackie College. She was a competitive gymnast for 11 years and held state and national titles. She started coaching team gymnastics at the YMCA in 2004 and coaches all levels of team. Lacey plans to continue helping young gymnasts to achieve all their dreams in the sport of gymnastics.

DYLIN LODER - graduated from Salina Central in 2009. He started cheering in middle school and continued through the college level. Dylin has worked at various gyms and has worked with an array of ages and levels in gymnastics and cheer. He has 12 years experience in gymanstics and 10 years experience in cheer. Dylin attended college in Texas and majored in kineseology. He coaches team levels from L3 through L10.

MARKIE TOWNSEND - has been coaching at the Salina Family YMCA since 2012. Prior to the Y, Markie coached at CATTS gymnastics in Wamego, KS and for Lisa's Gymnastics and Dance Company in Kinsley, KS leading to over 6 years of coaching experience. Markie coaches upper level team gymnastics.

STEPHANIE BAUGHMAN - has been involved in the Salina GemStars since 2005 and has coached pre-team and team gymnastics since 2007. She is also employed by the USD 305 at Lakewood Middle School. She enjoys working with children of all ages and has 3 children of her own.

MEAGAN AYERS -  has been involeved in the YMCA gymnastics program since she was 2 years old. She is currently attending Kansas Wesleyan University and a member of the KWU Spirit squad. Meagan coaches pre-team as well as team gymnastics.

BREANNA AYERS - is a junior at Salina South High School where she is a cheerleader. Breanna was a gymnast for 10 years and is now a coach for the recreational gymnastics classes.

MACIE ROHR - is a senior at Ellsworth High School. She started gymnstics at the Y in Kindergarten and is still currently competing today as a level 9 gymnast. She coaches the L2 competitive team.

ALYSSA ARDIS - is a senior and has been a cheerleader for 4 years and a gymnast for 8 years. Alyssa has been a coach for the last 2 years and is now coaching the L2 GemStars team.

HALIE TURNER - is a sophmore at Salina Central High School. She is a cheerleader and has been a part of the squad for 2 years. Halie was a member of the GemStars team and retired last year as a level 8 gymnast. She coaches recreational gymnastics and pre-team.

LORENZO ARAUJO - graduated from Bethany College with a Bachelor's degree in Business Management. He participated on the cheer squad for 3 years and was captain for the last two seasons. In 2010, "Zo" started coaching team gymnastics at the Y.

MELISSA NOWAK - is the head coach for the Salina Y Diamonds Cheer team. Over the years, Missy was the head coach for the Salina Central Cheer team, Lakewood Middle Cheer team and the Kansas Cagerz Cheer team. Missy's favorite part of coaching is seeing the kids learn a new skill, teamwork and discipline as they gain confidence.

JACI POTTBERG - is a coach of the Y Diamonds Cheer team. She has cheered since she was 5 years old. She was a Mustangs cheerleader from 2001-2007 when she graduated. Jaci was also a member of the Cagerz cheer squad. While attending Wichita State, Jaci cheered on the Wichita State cheer squad and received a degree in Social work/Sociology.
